Petey's in the paper!
For anyone that is here because they saw Petey in the paper and want more info here are the steps to adopt Petey:
It sounds like a lot but the process is fairly simple. Importantly we want to just make sure the fit is right for everyone and find Petey a forever home!
- Email me (Petey's foster mom Jamie) at jlsphotographer@gmail with your contact information and also please include why you are interested in Petey and what you are looking for in a dog.
- I will email or give you a call to discuss Petey and see if we feel he could be a good match for you/your family.
- If we think he's a match the next step is to set up a time and place for you to meet him. The shelter requires that everyone in the adoptive family meet the dog prior to adoption. This includes any dogs in the household.
- If after a meet we all agree its a fit- adoption is finalized at the shelter. His adoption fee is $40 and he comes UTD on all shots and is already neutered.

New friends
I had to go pick up donations for work and also at the same time get photos of one of our foster weims (I'm the President and Placement coordinator for Tri-State Weim Rescue). The foster home is also a friend of mine and was looking forward to meeting Petey so I brought him along for the ride.
Petey made a new best friend, Maggie who was very happy to throw the ball and cuddle with Petey. He didnt mind!

I love fetch! It was love at first sight for both Maggie and Petey. I think its safe to say that he is good with kids (can be a bit rough and puppy like but very friendly with them) |
Here's Petey's new friend who is also a foster dog. Her name is Taylor..and she needs a DIET!

Busy 1st weekend
Kept Petey busy this weekend. We had a weim rescue event and no weims were going so Petey was our featured adoptable dog at the Hogs and Hounds event in Shamong, NJ. Everyone loved Petey.
We also went to an event on Sunday at Pennypack Park with a few other ACCT adoptable dogs.
He had a great time....and than he crashed.

What a difference
Brought Petey home and instantly he was a different dog. No more scared or nervous. Completely content and even playful with the neighbors dogs and Grayce (my weim). Gave him a bath and he is a new man!

Petey at ACCT
After work today I ran up to ACCT to walk some dogs and take some petfinder pictures of a few dogs if they needed it. If a dog is in a kennel and does not have an orange sticker on their kennel card that means they need a photo taken. The first dog I came to that still needed a photo was curled up on his cot in the kennel. I kneeled down in front and began talking to him, he barely lifted his head but his tail began to thump up and down- it was obvious he was extremely nervous and afraid. He had a bowl full of food that had not been touched. I opened the door and put my hand out trying to coax him over to me. Tail kept wagging and slowly he got up and made his way over to me.
We headed out the building, as soon as we walked out the door the poor boy threw up a massive amount of water and than squatted to pee. Pretty sure the throwing up was from nerves. Someone else came by and mentioned they had been trying to give him ice earlier and he was just terrified.
I took him into a run, let his leash go so he could walk a around and I say on the bench to give him some space to calm down. He immediately came over to me, put both front paws on my lap and just nuzzles his head into my chest. Of course my heart melted.
I took some photos and hung out with him a bit. You can tell my his picture he was was not a happy camper at the shelter.

I put Petey back into his kennel and proceeded to walk and photograph a few more dogs. When I was getting ready to leave I got a blanket and went back and put it in with Petey.
I couldnt get him out of my head after I left and half joking brought up the idea of fostering him to Matt. Eventually the joking turned serious and Im extremely lucky to have a boyfriend who gave into the idea of fostering.
